Ask the Expert > Introducing key note speakers - hints and tips please
Jason,
Congratulations - OK, here's how you pull off a really professional job:
1) Get through to the speaker's office - does he/she have an introduction already written for you to use? If so - job done - take it, be grateful and learn it word for word. You'll really impress your colleagues (and the speaker) if you can introduce them without using any notes).
2) Let's assume for the purpose of this post that you have to prepare the introduction - here some further hints:
A) Keep it brief.
B) Keep it to what you can remember.
C) Link it to the outcome - so state (very briefly) the impact the speaker is going to make on your company's sales force (as opposed to just running through the speaker's qualifications).
D) Stand just off centre-stage (reserving centre-stage for the speaker) and stand still when speaking - you're there to serve the audience and the speaker (not to give your own show).
E) Build the speaker up and finish by giving him or her a great welcome (lead the appluse), "... and so ladies and gentlmen, please join me in welcoming..."
Let's know how it goes.
Chris

I have to introduce a key note speaker at our company's sales conference next week - any hints and tips about how to do this greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jason.
